Construction
The Leesa mattress is constructed of three layers of foam that combine to total 10 inches tall.
The top layer of the mattress uses 2 inches of Leesa’s proprietary LSA200 Foam Technology. This layer is designed to offer cooling, contouring, bounce, and durability. The cooling stems from the microcell structure of the foam, which allows greater airflow than most standard memory foam. Like most other foam mattresses, however, the Leesa mattress still offers contouring, which can offer the “hug” feeling often associated with memory foam. The LSA200 Foam Technology also has more bounce than most standard memory foam, which could make it easier to move or change position during the night. Since the foam used in this layer is high-density, it should also offer more durability than some foam top layers.
The next layer of the mattress is composed of 2 inches of memory foam. This layer works with the top layer to reduce pressure points and offer additional contouring.
The base layer of the mattress is constructed of 6 inches of high-density foam. This layer aims to provide a supportive, durable foundation for the rest of the mattress while reducing motion transfer.
The Leesa mattress is wrapped in a fire retardant sock. It also features a cover made of a blend of polyester and lycra that features a distinctive four-stripe pattern.
Firmness
The Leesa mattress is available in one firmness option: medium-firm. This mid-range firmness level is popular, so many people should find it acceptable. However, as always, firmness is a personal preference, so the firmness may not be ideal for everyone. Sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds or who prefer a softer feel may find the Leesa mattress a bit firm. Is it made from quality materials?
The Leesa mattress features high-density foams, which are often associated with quality.
The foam used in the mattress’s top layer is particularly notable. This layer uses Leesa’s proprietary LSA200 Foam Technology, which offers the contouring associated with memory foam with added bounce and breathability. Additionally, the Leesa mattress is CertiPUR-US certified, which indicates it is free of mercury, lead, formaldehyde, ozone depleters, and similar substances.
How long will it last?
The Leesa mattress uses high-density foams, which are usually more durable than lower density foams. Most foam mattresses last for around six years. We would expect the Leesa mattress to enjoy a similar lifespan. However, since the top layer of the mattress was recently switched from Avena foam to LSA200 foam, there is not yet much evidence on the durability of the new construction.
How well does it conform to my body?
Like many other mattresses constructed of foam, the Leesa mattress offers strong conforming properties. The top layer of the mattress is composed of LSA200 foam, which is designed to offer a close hug without trapping heat like most memory foam. The second layer of the mattress uses memory foam, which can offer deeper contouring. These two layers combine to 4 inches designed for conforming, which should be sufficient to reduce most sleepers’ pressure points.
Is the edge supportive?
As is standard in foam mattresses, the Leesa mattress does not feature reinforced edges. Without reinforcement, sitting on the edge may feel unstable due to the foam compressing when weight is applied.
Does it sleep hot?
The Leesa mattress’s layer of LSA200 foam should reduce its overall heat retention. LSA200 foam uses a microcell structure that allows airflow, which can help dissipate heat from the body rather than trapping heat against it. Because of the conforming, the Leesa mattress may still trap some heat. However, it should provide a cooler night’s sleep than some foam mattresses on the market.
Will it off-gas when it’s delivered?
Due to the manufacturing process, mattresses that contain foam may emit a slight odor at first. This is particularly true of mattresses that are compressed for shipment since they generally do not have time to air out before they are introduced into your home. Like most other foam mattresses, the Leesa mattress may off-gas when you first unpackage it. The smell of the mattress is not harmful, and it should air out within a few days. Simply leave the mattress in a well-ventilated area after unpackaging until you’re ready to use it.
Will I feel my partner move during the night?
Foam mattresses like the Leesa traditionally do an excellent job isolating motion, and the Leesa is no exception. The top layers of foam can absorb some of the motion of your partner moving, so you might be less likely to notice. The support layer also aims to reduce motion transfer on a deeper level.
While the Leesa mattress can significantly reduce motion transfer, it may not stop it entirely. The LSA200 foam is designed to provide some bounce, so the Leesa mattress might not isolate motion as completely as some foam mattresses on the market.
Who is Best Suited for a Leesa Mattress?
Mattress preferences vary between individuals, so a mattress that feels right to one person may not feel ideal to another. But while mattress comfort boils down to personal preference, there are some key factors that may make some people better suited to particular mattresses.
Since the Leesa mattress comes in one firmness option and it is fairly mid-range, the mattress is perhaps best suited to sleepers of average weight with average firmness preferences. The Leesa mattress may be slightly too firm for some sleepers who weigh less than average, and it may be slightly too soft for some sleepers who weigh more than average. Similarly, sleepers who prefer a particularly soft or firm mattress may not find this medium-firm mattress as appealing as some other options.
Combination sleepers will also enjoy the Leesa mattress. Some mattresses are designed primarily for one or two sleeping positions, but the Leesa mattress is designed to accommodate side sleepers, back sleepers, and stomach sleepers. Because of this, the Leesa mattress may be a good choice if you tend to change positions during the night.

Sleep Trial
Leesa offers a 100-night trial on the Leesa mattress. To be eligible to return your mattress, you must first try the mattress for at least 30 nights to adjust. After that, you can return your mattress for a refund of your purchase price. A $49 “Bed Adoption Fee” will be deducted from your return, and the company will arrange to pick up your mattress. Customers in Alaska and Hawaii will also be charged an additional $100 return fee.
Warranty
Leesa offers a 10-year warranty for the original purchaser of the Leesa mattress. This warranty offers a replacement mattress or mattress repairs if your Leesa mattress is deemed defective.
Availability and Delivery
The Leesa mattress is sold through the Leesa website and through Amazon. Through the Leesa website, Leesa ships for free to all 50 states in the United States using UPS. The Leesa mattress also ships to Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The mattress ships compressed, and the customer is responsible for setting it up. For a $150 fee, Leesa also offers In-Home Delivery in select locations. With this service, a two-person team will set up your new mattress and remove your old mattress.
