The Leesa mattress company has been producing popular bedding products for years. It’s known for delivering high-quality mattresses and excellent customer care. Leesa’s mattresses also come at a lower price than the competition by eliminating the middleman and working directly with their consumers.
The company’s newest mattress is called the Legend—a bed that combines all of the innovations from previous Leesa models to give you a superior sleeping experience. The Legend is a dual-spring hybrid mattress that gives sleepers a medium-firm sleeping surface made of recycled and organic materials. This in-depth review will give you all the information you need to decide if the Leesa Legend is the right bed for you.
Leesa Legend Overview
Leesa Legend

Leesa Legend
The Leesa Legend dual-coil mattress is the first of its kind to be sold as a bed-in-a-box.
Construction
The Legend mattress features a unique cover that is made from organic cotton and merino wool. It is completely hypoallergenic and uses recycled materials for an environmentally friendly product. The first of two foam layers uses ventilated polyfoam that contours to your body while also allowing air to flow through its perforated surface. Beneath the polyfoam is a layer of memory foam for deeper contouring and pressure point relief. One of the most notable design features of the Leesa Legend is its dual-coil design—the first layer of coils are micro-pocket springs wrapped in foam that give you targeted relief and eliminates motion transfer. The base layer is comprised of over a thousand active-response coils that give this mattress edge-to-edge support. The innerspring support core has thin, high-density polyfoam layers on either side for added durability and support.
Firmness
The Leesa Legend hybrid bed has a medium-firm feel. Most people find medium or medium-firm beds the most comfortable, because these types of mattresses can accommodate multiple sleeping positions. The Legend features two foam layers on top that contour to your body—crucial for side sleepers. Your hips and shoulders will sink in and be supported by the micro-coils while the top layers cradle the lighter parts of your body, providing excellent spinal alignment. Back sleepers will appreciate the medium-firm feel because it provides necessary conforming and gives you great lumbar and shoulder support. Sleepers who are above average weight will find that the thicker loft and medium-firmness of the Legend is perfect for support and overall comfort.

Leesa Legend Mattress Breakdown
We’ve answered some frequently asked questions below to help give you a better feel for the Leesa Legend mattress. If you want to learn more about our review process, you can read about it here.
Is it made from quality materials?
Leesa always uses premium materials for its mattresses, so it should be no surprise that everything in the Legend is top-quality. The cover, which is unique to this bed, combines 100% organic cotton and recycled merino wool for luxuriously soft and hypoallergenic cover. The hole-punched polyfoam and pressure-relieving memory foam have both proven to be quality comfort layers in other Leesa models. The Legend’s exclusive micro-pocket spring layer uses the long-lasting technology featured in the active response springs and uses it to isolate motion and give extra support.
How long will it last?
The Leesa Legend was launched in 2023, so long term durability is somewhat subjective. Based on the longevity of the parts shared with other Leesa models and the materials used, it’s estimated that the Legend will last at least seven years—which is about average for a hybrid bed. The polyfoam and memory foam layers are shared with the original Leesa mattress, and the active-response pocket springs are used in the Leesa hybrid, both of which have proven to be durable materials.
How well does it conform to my body?
The top layer of perforated polyfoam has conforming qualities, which are aided by the memory foam and mini-coil layer. Overall, the medium-firm feel does not contour too close to the body compared to soft mattresses and all-foam models. Back and stomach sleepers will find that the Legend conforms just the right amount. People who weigh over 230 pounds will sink into the top layers and find that these comfort foams have great contouring properties.
Is the edge supportive?
The Leesa Legend has a pocket-coil support core reinforced by two layers of foam to make sure the edge is strong. The upper layer of mini-coils adds to the overall support, including the bed’s perimeter. A layer of medium-dense transitional foam sits on top of the 1,000 springs, and a high-density base foam layer underneath the coils improves durability. The edge-to-edge support foundation should provide plenty of edge support, although there will be some sinkage in the softer comfort layers.
Does it sleep hot?
The Legend mattress does an excellent job of keeping you cool while you sleep. The organic cotton and merino wool used in the cover are very breathable, and the cover sits on top of ventilated polyfoam that gives you maximized airflow from the mattress’s core. Using two separate innerspring layers, the Legend has a vast amount of air that can travel through the foundation and up toward the sleeper. Also, this mattress is medium-firm, which means you won’t sink too far into the mattress and it won’t trap excess body heat.
Will it off-gas when it’s delivered?
Just like any other mattress that uses foam layers, the Leesa Legend will have an off-gassing period. This bed uses two foam comfort layers and two foam support layers (around its coils), so there will be a noticeable smell once unboxed. Any odor coming from the bed is non-toxic and should be very short-term as long as the bed is unboxed upon arrival and kept in an open room.
Will I feel my partner move during the night?
Motion isolation is another highlight of the Legend mattress. Due to the dual-coil construction and responsive materials, this bed doesn’t isolate all movement. However, the soft foam layers couples with the mini-coils manage to isolate the majority of movement. In short, the Legend does great for a hybrid bed, but doesn’t perform as well as all-foam mattresses.
Who is Best Suited for a Leesa Legend Mattress?
There isn’t one perfect mattress for everybody because we all have different preferences, sleeping habits, and body types. Based on some details about yourself, you could be more or less likely to find the Leesa Legend comfortable. First, there’s the price, which—for this mattress—is higher than average. If you’re looking for a new bed but you have a tight budget, this probably isn’t the best choice for you. Other hybrids, even other Leesa models, can be found at a much lower price.
The Legend only comes as a medium-firm mattress. This is great for most back sleepers, and medium-firm is also ideal for back or stomach sleepers who are heavier than average weight. Some side sleepers might find this mattress too firm. If you sleep on your side and weigh more than 230 pounds or find medium mattresses too soft, then the Legend might be just the right amount of support you need. The hole-punched foam and dual-coil design also help make this mattress an excellent choice for anyone who sleeps too hot.
Couples with different sleeping preferences will appreciate the versatile sleeping surface. The bed also strong edge-to-edge support, which helps when sleeping with a partner. People looking for environmentally friendly products will definitely like the organic and recycled materials used throughout the Legend.
Leesa Legend vs. Leesa Hybrid Mattress
Leesa currently offers two hybrid models: the Leesa Hybrid and the Leesa Legend. The Legend is a newer model that features some upgrades, but the Hybrid still has it’s advantages. Both models share the same responsive 1,000 coil base layer and use similar materials for their comfort foams.
The Leesa Hybrid is better for side sleepers who are average or below-average weight. It features thicker comfort layers to conform to the body and provide better spinal alignment. The Legend is a better choice for back and stomach sleepers, and sleepers who are above average weight. The thinner foam layers and micro-coils give added support.
The Legend is a better choice if you’re looking for sustainably produced products. This mattress uses organic cotton and wool for its outer cover and uses recycled materials throughout its design. However, this also helps make the Legend a more expensive option. Shoppers who are looking for a new hybrid mattress and have a budget to stick too should probably go for the Leesa Hybrid.

Sleep Trial
The Leesa offers a 100-night sleep trial for all of its mattresses—including ones bought from third-party sellers (like Pottery Barn or West Elm). During this sleep trial, there is a 30-day mandatory break-in period. Customers can’t return the bed until after the first 30 days, and it can take at least that long to adjust to a new bed anyways. If you decide to return the Legend during the sleep trial, Leesa will arrange for pickup and fully refund the purchase.
Warranty
Your new Leesa Legend will be protected with a 10-year, non-prorated warranty. This covers any indentations deeper than one inch, flaws in craftsmanship, and defects with the mattress cover. The mattress will be replaced or repaired—at the company’s discretion—at any time during the 10 years for no cost (unless there are related shipping costs). It’s important to note that the warranty will be voided if the mattress is not set up on a proper base, and it does not cover damage from users like cuts, burns, or tears.
