The Casper Wave is the company’s newest, luxury offering and is an all-foam mattress. It’s extremely plush and comfortable (while still retaining adequate support). Construction
The Casper Wave has five layers that add up to 13” in height. First comes a durable base layer. This layer’s job is to provide a strong foundation, reinforcing the top layers and adding extra support. Next is the layer of targeted gel pods that support the shoulders, hips, and legs. These gel pods (plus the mattress’s contouring properties) help promote spinal alignment, relieving pain and providing a good night’s sleep. Thanks to the gel pods and contouring, the Wave’s design helps keep your body aligned at 27 key points.
The third layer in the Wave is memory foam, which provides excellent pressure point relief. Next is a layer of latex foam. The latex is very breathable and helps air circulate, and it also adds an element of bounce. Finally, the top layer in the Casper Wave is a comfort foam that’s extremely soft and also fights humidity; in addition to polyester and rayon, it’s infused with wool, which is naturally breathable and temperature neutral.
The Comfort Flo Foam, memory foam, and support foam used in the Wave are all certified by the CertiPUR-US program and are OEKO-TEX Certified as well. This means the foam doesn’t have an excess of harmful chemicals and that the latex meets guidelines for chemical standards.
Finally, unlike some mattress, be aware that the Wave mattress does not come in different thickness options.
Firmness
The Casper Wave mattress is medium soft—it has good support, but is a little softer than the average medium-firm bed. When you lie down on the Wave, the plush feel of the mattress should make you feel as if you’re being gently cradled. You won’t sink too far into the bed, though, because the targeted gel pods provide support.

For a foam mattress, the Wave is definitely on the pricey side, with the smallest size starting at $1,345 and going up from there. The Wave is considered to be a luxury mattress, because of its components, which is reflected in the price. One point to note, though, is that the king and California king mattress sizes cost the same. Many mattress companies charge more for a Cal King, even if the additional fee is small. But with the Casper Wave, if you have the space, you might as well get a California king—because it’s exactly the same price as the traditional king-size bed. Just be prepared to purchase new bedding as well.

Is it made from quality materials?
Yes, the Casper Wave is made from high-quality materials. The Flo Foam, latex foam, and memory foam are all durable and well-made. Casper also put in some extra work to get the foams certified by the CertiPUR-US program (this certification means the foam is safe, with no ozone-depleting chemicals) and the latex and cover OEKO-TEX certified. The second certification means the bed is safe in terms of chemicals and is a very difficult certification to get.
How long will it last?
The materials used in the Wave are durable; the foams and latex used in the mattress are dense and high-quality. That being said, the Casper Wave will definitely last five years and could reach up to an eight-year lifespan if taken care of correctly.
How well does it conform to my body?
The Wave has great contouring properties; its many layers of foam mold themselves to your body. The mattress feels soft but it’s not too plush—instead of sinking deep into the bed, you’re still supported. The latex helps in this regard, giving a little bit of bounce and pushback so you don’t get completely lost in all of the memory foam. This responsiveness also makes it easy to change sleeping positions during the night.
Is the edge supportive?
Edge support refers to how firm the edge of the mattress is. Since the Wave mattress features so much foam, it does not have good edge support, like many foam mattresses. This means you may not be able to use the full surface of the mattress—you’ll need to sleep more near the middle.
Does it sleep hot?
The Wave should sleep cooler than most memory foam mattresses. Casper went to a lot of trouble to incorporate cooling technologies into the mattress. The Flo Foam in the first layer has an open cell pattern that encourages airflow. The top layer of the mattress is made with materials, such as wool, that also help circulate air. Even the placement of the materials is strategic. The memory foam is under the latex, which sleeps much cooler. The Wave won’t necessarily cool you down, but it’s not likely to make you hotter.
Will it off-gas when it’s delivered?
All mattress off-gas (emit an unpleasant smell) to some extent. But while the Casper Wave will have some off-gassing, after just a few hours, you should no longer notice the smell. This mattress uses a water-based adhesive which eliminates unnecessary chemicals and helps with off-gassing too.
Will I feel my partner move during the night?
Memory foam is known for generally having good motion isolation, and the Casper Wave is no exception as it’s made almost entirely with foam, including just one layer of bouncy latex. All of the foam in the top layers of the mattress helps to absorb motion. While the motion isolation of the Wave is not perfect, it’s good enough that for the most part, you should be able to sleep soundly even if your partner moves around on the bed.
Who is Best Suited for a Casper Wave Mattress?
The Wave is ideal for side sleepers, as it offers a soft surface for your shoulders and hips to sink into. For the same reason, heavier side sleepers may find the Wave to be too soft. The mattress is also good for back sleepers—it offers enough support to promote spinal alignment. For stomach sleepers, however, the Wave might be a little too soft, and not give enough support under your hips.
The Wave has good motion isolation thanks to all of the memory foam used in its construction. So if you sleep with a partner who likes to move around (or if you like to move around), you and your partner should both be able to sleep without disturbance.
If you like mattresses that feels soft, the Wave is a great choice—its top layers have a pillowy, cradling feel supported by a high-quality base. On the other hand, if you prefer the bouncier feel of a hybrid or innerspring mattress, you may want to steer clear of the Wave. The Wave only has one layer of latex and has a more traditional memory foam feel.
The Casper Wave is also a luxury mattress, so it’s not a good fit for people on a budget. High-quality materials and the well-thought-out ergonomic design mean this mattress is truly top-notch. And thanks to the high quality of the mattress, it should last for a long time. So the Wave is not a starter mattress. Instead, the Casper Wave could be right for you if you’re ready to commit to a solid mattress long-term.
Casper Wave vs. Casper Wave Hybrid
The primary difference between the Casper Wave and the Casper Wave Hybrid is that the Wave is all-foam, while the Wave Hybrid has a coil system. What does this mean? For one thing, the Wave Hybrid should be more supportive because of the coils while the Wave is softer because of the foam. The Hybrid should also be a little more durable, which is also due to the coils.
At the time of this writing, there is no difference in price between the two mattresses, with a queen-size bed for either one coming in at $2,295. The Casper Wave Hybrid may last longer than the Wave.
Both mattresses have good breathability, but since the Hybrid has less foam, it offers a little more ventilation. They’re both good for back sleepers, but neither one is ideal for stomach sleepers (both are too soft). Heavier sleepers may prefer the feel of the Hybrid, but both are a good option for individuals of all sizes.
All in all, the Hybrid may be a better option for heavier sleepers and is also great if you tend to sleep hot, while the traditional Wave would work well for light to average weight sleepers and those who want a softer sleeping surface.

Sleep Trial
Casper offers a 100-day sleep trial for the Wave mattress. With this trial, you can sleep on the mattress for 100 days in your own home. Your trial starts when the mattress is delivered. If you decide the Wave mattress is not for you, a Casper employee will come pack it up, and Casper will either donate or recycle the mattress. You will receive a full refund for whatever you paid.

Warranty
The Casper Wave mattress has a 10-year limited warranty. This warranty applies to the following:
- Deterioration that causes the mattress to have a visible indentation greater than one inch
- Any flaw that causes the foam to split or crack
- Manufacturing defects in the zipper assembly of the cover
The warranty only covers your mattress if you’re using it correctly, which means placing the mattress on a base that’s capable of supporting its weight. You will also need to keep a copy of your receipt to serve as proof of purchase, since the warranty is only good for the original purchaser and not resales.
