Brooklyn Bedding has been a highly rated mattress company for the past decade, and it continually updates its catalog with new products. One of the more recent additions is the hybrid Signature mattress. This model features a three-layered design consisting of pocketed coils, high-density foam, and gel-infused comfort foam, designed to give you the best of all worlds. The bed is topped with a quilted cotton cover. If you’re comparing all of the mattresses available online today, the Signature deserves a spot on your list because of its customizable feel and great quality. While boxed beds used to be all-foam models that tend to trap heat, this mattress uses temperature-regulating gel and breathable materials.

People who tend to sleep hot will find that this bed helps keep them cool throughout the night. The Signature is also an excellent product for couples thanks to the different firmness options and responsive springs. In this review, we’re going to go over all of the features and specifications of the newest Brooklyn bed. We’ll tell you everything you need to know about the Signature to help decide if it’s the best mattress for you.

Brooklyn Signature Mattress Overview

Brooklyn Bedding Signature

Brooklyn Signature

The Brooklyn Bedding Signature offers three layers of premium materials that should last for years.

Construction

The Brooklyn Signature Mattress is a hybrid, which means it mixes the best features from two types of beds; a foam mattress and an innerspring. This bed is a total of 11.5 inches thick; the top half is made of foam and the bottom half features coils. Over 1,000 individually wrapped springs make up the bed’s core, and give the Brooklyn Signature a bouncy feel similar to a traditional innerspring bed. In addition to the bounce that many people prefer, the springs also allow for better airflow inside the mattress (which is crucial for staying cool). While regular foam mattresses are soft and trap a lot of heat, a hybrid model gets the breathability and responsiveness of a spring mattress combined with the comfort of foam layered on top.

The top half of the Signature uses multiple layers and two different types of foam. The company’s Energex foam is a dense material that supports the heaviest parts of your body while TitanFlex foam is softer to the touch and contours to your natural curves. The three different firmness options use the same materials, but varying amounts of foam to achieve the desired feel. The foams are mixed with TitaniumGel, which is designed to keep you cool, and it’s all covered with a quilted cotton cover.

Firmness

The Signature Bed is available in three different firmness options: Soft, Medium, and Firm. The Medium option is the most common choice because it can accommodate different sleeping styles for couples or anyone who changes sleep positions throughout the night. People who sleep on their side might prefer the Soft model instead. The softer feeling top layers allow your shoulders and hips to sink in further and reduce any aches or pains that might be caused by sleeping on an overly firm mattress. The Firm option best suits back and stomach sleepers because it provides support without allowing you to sink in too far and cause unnecessary strain. Back sleepers who find the Medium option too soft will appreciate the stronger lumbar support found in the Firm model.

Brooklyn Signature Mattress Breakdown

The questions below will help you better understand the specific features and aspects of the Brooklyn Bedding Signature mattress. For more on our mattress review process, check out our methodology.

Is it made from quality materials?

Brooklyn Bedding uses top-notch materials for its Signature mattress. The bedding company is known for using quality materials for its products, and this mattress is no different—especially considering the price point. The gel-infused TitanFlex foam is an excellent material both for longevity and for its cooling properties. The Ascension coils are used in several different Brooklyn models and they tend to hold up well over the years.

How long will it last?

With regular use, the Signature mattress should last about eight years. The average mattress lifespan is approximately six to eight years, so this offering from Brooklyn Bedding should have a respectable lifespan (and above average for many similarly priced beds). Since this model has only been on the market for a short time, the lifespan estimate is based on materials used and other similar products produced by Brooklyn Bedding.

How well does it conform to my body?

The Signature bed offers great conforming qualities and pressure relief. The three different firmness options allow you to pick the model with the preferred level of conforming. The Soft option has the thickest and softest foam layers on top, which will hug the body and significantly reduce pressure for side sleepers. The Energex form used in the middle layer balances support and softness to properly conform to the parts of your body that sink the deepest into your mattress.

Is the edge supportive?

Thanks to the Ascension coils and high-density Energex foam, the Brooklyn Bedding Signature bed has excellent edge support. As with all mattresses that use soft foam, the top layers of the bed will sink slightly when you sit on the side. However, the tougher materials used in the bottom layers of this product make for an overall sturdy feel. This is essential not only for sitting on the edge of your bed but having the same level of support all the way across the mattress makes it feel bigger overall (which is great for sharing your bed with a significant other).

Does it sleep hot?

The Signature Mattress has a lot of cooling features to make sure it doesn’t sleep hot. Using springs in the core of this mattress allows for plenty of airflow, which helps eliminate trapped body heat. The TitaniumGel used throughout the layers of foam also helps keep this bed as cool as possible; the Signature outperforms foam beds and has a slight edge over other hybrid models.

Will it off-gas when it’s delivered?

Just like every other bed-in-a-box, the Brooklyn Signature will give off a temporary smell when it is first unwrapped. Since the mattress is not made entirely of foam, the scent won’t be overpowering, and it should disappear within the first few hours of sitting in an open space.

Will I feel my partner move during the night?

The Signature mattress does a good job of minimizing the motion transferred from one partner moving around or getting up. While hybrid beds typically suffer from the bounce that comes with using springs, Brooklyn Bedding uses such a thick amount of foam that you most movement will not be noticed. If movement is your biggest concern, the Signature does a better job than most hybrid beds but does not eliminate motion entirely like an all-foam mattress.

Who is Best Suited for a Brooklyn Signature Mattress?

While mattress comfort is entirely subjective, several factors can make one better for you than another. Sleeping position is a crucial detail in deciding which model is the best. The Soft Signature is perfect for side sleepers while the Firm Signature is better suited for stomach and back sleepers. People who change their sleep position over the course of the night or couples with different sleeping preferences might find the Medium to be a good balance of comfort and support.

Body weight has an effect on which mattress will be the most comfortable for you. People who weigh over 230 pounds will probably prefer a firmer option than suggested above (Medium for side sleepers and Firm for back and combination sleepers). The reason for this is that the dense Energex foam responds to applied pressure, so heavier sleepers will sink in deeper to the foam layers and not achieve the optimal amount of support. People who weigh under 130 pounds won’t sink as deep into the soft upper layers of the mattress, so the Soft option might be best for combination sleepers.

Couples will really like the Signature mattress. The responsiveness of the springs makes this an excellent mattress choice for sex, much better than an all-foam bed. The top layers of foam also help minimize motion transfer and noise, which means you won’t disturb your partner if you move or get up while they’re sleeping. The multiple firmness options also allow couples to find an option that compliments both their sleeping styles without compromising a good night’s sleep.
